Roti is an unleavened South Asian bread made from stoneground wholemeal flour, traditionally known as atta flour. Similar to a chapatti, only slightly thicker, roti is an integral part of Sri Lankan cuisine and is considered a main meal rather than a supplement.
Probably the most popular type of roti in Sri Lanka is coconut roti (pol roti). Sometimes chopped green chillies and onion are added to the mixture before cooking.
